Managed to get a phone number for Mr. Dave Scott who resides in Leven. I knew that he was in Leven after my stay on the weekend of 27/28 July 2001. When chatting with the owner of the B&B who told me that he had met Mr. Scott and saw him now and again in a local pub.

I rang Mr. Scott on the evening of 7th August and had a brief chat with him.

He said that on leaving Braehead that he had gone to the Multimedia Resource Centre in Kennoway and then onto run an Air Education Unit centred around his gliding activities which he did till he retired

He remembered a number of pupils whom he tutored in the gym, the subjects being mechanics and science. All of the lads had managed to get their 'O' levels in these subjects. Some of them have gone on to do well for themselves for instance, John Boba, Ian Stewart and Neil Moreland.

He did not remember me, I explained that I was quite quiet and kept my head down. He said that he had over the years taught thousands of pupils.
(Therefore not surprising that he did not remember me. Jim)

He went on to say that he stood no nonsense in his class. If you disrupted his class and put your will against his will then there could only be one winner. He said that he would say to pupils that 'this will hurt you more than it will hurt me, unless I miss and hit my leg'.

Look out in the near future for a full interview with Mr Scott.

Braehead School goes gliding - Fife fliers
Mr Scott has donated a number of images of the school taking part in gliding at Portmoak and these images are available at the link above. This page has text written by Hamish Brown, recounting a visit with pupils to the gliding centre. I have married some of Mr Scotts images with this text.
