The following photographs were submitted by Shirley Martin, who was school secretary for a number of years and then became a non-certificated teacher at Braehead. Thank you Shirley for agreeing to be interviewed but also the first to loan me your treasured photographs for inclusion on this web site.

The first photograph above, show's Miss Braehead being crowned.
Shirley Martin can be seen on the left.
Who is Miss Braehead and what is the year?

The picture on the left is of Ian Scott (PE Teacher) and
Shirley Martin on the right
Shirley and Ian were to marry while they were at the school.

The photograph of Shriley was taken by Kenneth Lamond at Breahead School in June 1963

I thought I would show you the picture above in its original state and below after very little digital correction.

I think you will agree the result from one to the other is very impressive.
The message here is, if you have any old photographs from Braehead,
no matter in what state I would love to try and get an image for use on the site.

The above photograph is of the presentation of a plaque for
Scottish Country Dancing to pupils from the school.
It looks like it was taken in the school gym.

The plaque reads 'Braehead School.
Scottish Country
Dancing Competition'.

Again the picture above and below show's that no matter what the damage to a photograph, digitally anything is possible, after a little time and patience. As can be seen above there is quite a heavy black ink stain on this photograph.

The image above, after a little digital magic has been worked on it.
I am very pleased with the result, athough with a little more time and effort the image could still be improved, but not a bad effort.

Left to right in this line-astern formation are John Fitzpatrick (14) of Denbeath with P.T. Teacher Mr Ian Scott; James Davidson (12), Buckhaven; Robert Wardlaw (13) Methil; Sam Blues (14) Buckhaven with Mr Simon Alford, English Teacher; and finally Peter Kirkaldy (14), Denbeath. The picture above shows pupils and staff trying out their craft on the River Leven on a Saturday morning.
